Faith, Hope and Love

Friends of Wombwell Hall (FOWH) aims to demonstrate the love of God to those living and working at Wombwell Hall Nursing Home in Northfleet.

Getting old can be a challenge, but when compounded with physical and mental problems, many find themselves in a nursing home alone and no longer able to look after themselves.  Life as they knew it, has ended. Although staff do a good job of catering for resident’s basic needs, the demands on their time caused by the health situations they face, means they are unable to spend quality time with individuals.

This leads many of the residents to experience a life of despair, without hope or any sense of value, where each day is a just another painful, often lonely, existence.

Over the past few years, City Praise Centre church has brought some comfort through its chapel type service that is held each month.  At the short service we sing familiar hymns followed by talking one-on-one with the residents and offering to pray for them. This has now been extended to a fortnightly communion service held during the week and a volunteer program, where individuals visit on a regular basis. These activities are well received with many residents and staff looking forward to our return.
